Dean present 'Beyond Poetry' Sunday's from 8pm-9pm.
Brief Background Summary
Over the last three decades Dean has become one of the world's leading advocates of dowsing as a means of connecting to our own intuition, also a passionate teacher of empowering others to self heal and adopting more holistic lifestyles. He found another channel for spiritual expression through poetry as a creative outlet. Dean became known as The Quantum Poet early on in his poetic career when a radio host referred to him that way all throughout an hour-long interview. Dean never did find out why, nevertheless he felt that the name suited him, so he accepted the gift and kept it! He spent a while as a resident poet on a local TV channel. Since 2017 Dean Fraser has hosted his syndicated arts and culture radio show Beyond Poetry, which is heard by upwards of a quarter of a million people across the UK via a network of amazing local community radio stations. Dean Fraser tours globally sharing ways to live more holistically and his poetry; all imparted with his natural calm and gentle warmth.
What was your first job? Do you have a funny story about it?
I am fortunate in my job as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach, I get to make a difference in the lives of others. As a performance poet, it always amazes me the difference in audiences from different areas of the country – I like audience interaction and questions, in a Yorkshire or Lancashire I can guarantee I will get just that!
What are you happiest doing when you’re not working and why?
Being out in nature. Constantly inspiring and good for the soul.
What’s your absolute favourite song and why?
Changes from day-to-day! Regular listeners to Beyond Poetry will know I am rather fond of Fairport Convention. At the moment their track “The Wood and The Wire". Tomorrow it will be something else!
What’s your favourite album and why?
Fairport Convention – Festival Bell. It doesn’t remind me of anything in particular.
What song do you hate most and why?
I don’t really do hate. There are certain artists I would never play on my show though which will remain my secret (well okay U2 is one of them! shhh)
Which artist/ musician alive or dead would you most like to get a coffee (whiskey etc.) with?
Oddly, the answer to this is David Essex! The reason being he wrote a poetry book The Travelling Tinker Man and Other Rhymes and I would love to interview him about said book.
Tell us something no one knows about you?
I once travelled to New York to look at a painting.
What’s your most useless talent?
Can’t think and anything specific. I believe all knowledge is useful at some point, and so I shall have to decline to specifically answer this one.
What will finally break the internet?
No idea and don’t much care. LOL
If we went to Happy Hour what would you order?
Water (Sorry, I don't really drink much alcohol...!)
Finally - is there anything specific you want the listeners to know about you...
I have been writing since 1998, during which time I have written eight poetry collections and nine self-help books.
